Nissan Making Changes in the Philippines

During a time of rapid growth in the
Philippines’ market, Nissan has committed to boost sales in the Southeast Asian
region. Nissan has taken several actions to spur growth in this area by
introducing them to global models, and a unified national sales company. These
steps will encourage industry sales, imports, and distribution. Moreover, the
introduction of new models will be critical in this market because Nissan’
bestselling sedans are expected to be the greatest contributor to their plan –
the Nissan Altima and Sylphy. Nissan has done some research on the demographics
of the area and found that only 1 in 30 people own a vehicle, so there is
definite room to grow and an untouched market.

Nissan Teases with New 2015 Nissan Murano

Nissan has recently revealed a sneak peak video of the 2015 Murano
that is due to debut in a couple of days at the New York International Auto
Show. The all-new 2015 Murano will be built in our very own country, at Nissan
Canton, Mississippi Plant. This will open plenty of opportunities for the
Canton Plant – it will be the global source for Murano production which will
create incredible export opportunities. The Murano will not only be an
incredible update from its last model, it will also reveal the new Nissan
design language for future Nissan vehicles.

Big Win For Nissan – and our Planet

Nissan Energy Management Team has been
hard at work searching through miles of tubing in the compressed air system at
their U.S. production plant – they have repaired enough leaks to save 11,300
megawatt hours of energy last year. John Martin, Nissan’s Senior Vice
President, said, “We saved enough energy to power more than 700 homes for a
year, offset the greenhouse gas emissions of nearly 2,800 tons of landfill
waste or better yet, to drive the all-electric Nissan LEAF around the earth
more than 40,000 times.” Proud of Nissan’s Energy Management Team, Martin
expresses his concern over a common industrial challenge. They estimate that
more than twenty percent of compressed air that is used in production
operations was wasted through air leaks. “Thanks to the hard work by our Energy
Management Team, we have implemented energy-reduction projects, like the air
leak detection program, that helped us earn the prestigious U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency 2014 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence
Award for the third consecutive year” concluded Martin.

March was a great month for the Nissan Leaf

In the month of March, Nissan sold 2,507 Leafs – rising a 12 percent increase over March 2013 where Nissan sold 2,236 Leafs – but it doesn’t stop there. March was such a great month for Nissan, that in fact, it is the single highest March sales total for the Leaf since it went on sale in 2010. After having a tremendous month, the Leaf sales in the U.S. rise to 47,306 – increasing the number of plug-in electric vehicles on the U.S roads to cross 200,000 at some point this month. The Nissan Leaf has had several competitors, like the Chevy Volt, oversell their sales numbers but Nissan continues their plan to boost Leaf sales throughout the rest of the year. If the Chevy volt continues to have stagnant monthly sales, the leaf will quickly become the plug-in electric car with the highest U.S Sales to date.

Nissan Rogue gets Top Safety Pick Plus

In order to achieve the Top Safety Pick Plus rating, a current year model must achieve high results in the institute’s crash tests – this includes a test which stimulates hitting another vehicle, tree, or light pole with only one corner of the car. Furthermore, the car must have a crash prevention system as on option including automatic braking or front collision warning.  Only vehicles who offer these options are eligible for this rating, if vehicles without these options perform well they get the second-level ranking of Top Safety Pick.  The Nissan Rogue was noted for several great things – the test report read, “In the small overlap test, the driver’s space was maintained reasonably well. Injury measures recorded on the dummy indicated low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity.”

Nissan eNV200 to be produced in India

Nissan has recently decided that will be building new models in their production plants in India in order to make them affordable in India. The eNV200 will begin production in the Renault-Nissan Oragadam factory on the outskirts of Chennai, India – however, the battery and other powertrain components will ship from Renault-Nissan in Barcelona, Spain. Nissan has also released a statement saying that they believe the electric Evalias that end up in Bhutan will be used as Taxis.

Univision and Nissan Team up in new Campaign

In an ad campaign which began earlier this month Nissan, Subway, and Post Foods’ Honey Bunches of Oats have been helping Univision spread the word to Hispanic consumers. This is especially important to Nissan because Hispanics bought 30 percent of Nissan Sentra’s in 2013. Univision claims that they want people to be startled with their research because they believe some marketers don’t make the Hispanic market a strategic priority. Univision communication’s Marketing Vice President, Cynthia Ashworth believes that three main ideas have emerged: Those marketers did not fully understand the Hispanic market, the effectiveness of advertising in Spanish, or the effectiveness of advertising with Univision.  Nissan however has been paying close attention to Univision – they are well aware of the impact they could potentially have amongst the Hispanic community. Last year alone, Nissan ranked with 19% of overall sales to Hispanics; furthermore, Hispanics accounted for 48% of all Nissan Sentra sales last year.

Nissan’s Datsun “Go”

Nissan Japan is reviving Datsun, which has just debuted their first vehicle – the Go – and they are eyeing the Alto market in India, where it can compete against Hyundai’s Eon. The two vehicles are similarly priced and are expected to become competitors in the small car market. Small car sales account for one third of all car sales in India, so Nissan has high hopes for future success with the Go. Datsun’s latest model is a 1,200cc petrol engine which was built on the Nissan Micra platform. Datsun has taken some cost cutting measures on this car to assure that the vehicle is affordable – some of the cost-cutting measures they have taken include single wiper, glove boxes without cover and absence of power windows in the rear.

Nissan on Track to Meet Sales Goals

Since designing their first electric car, Nissan and their French partner Renault revealed an absurd sales goal – they are striving to sell 1.5 million electric vehicles before 2020 – and they might actually do it. Between the two companies, they have sold around 150,000 vehicles year to date – they are well on their way to meet their goal. Tougher emissions standards around the world might work in their favor and assist by boosting sales. Nissan’s electric vehicles global vice president, Bill Hayes, says “It is getting contagious – and this means the company can hit the number faster.” If Nissan and Renault are correct, they are expected to see a rise in sales in the near future.

Rick Kelly in V8 Supercars Championship

At this years’ Supercars Championship, Rick Kelly  – driver of the #15 Jack Daniel’s Nissan Altima – took fifth place during a dramatic Race 3 in Australia. This race was not easy and he managed to place fifth even after a couple penalties and a delayed pit stop to fix some damaged parts. “There was so much going on out there, I must admit I was extremely surprised by a few things out there. After those two penalties, were right back, and we had to race really hard” Kelly said.
