Nissan Partners with BMW to Bring DC Fast Chargers to U.S.

Cardinale Nissan 1_LEAFevbestselling

In an effort to make EVs easier to adopt, Nissan has partnered with BMW to build out the U.S. electric infrastructure. The two automakers have covered 19 states thus far, installing over 120 chargers to-date. These DC Fast Chargers can refuel a battery to 80% capacity in under 30 minutes. Even more exciting is that these DC Fast Chargers aren’t OEM-specific. Meaning that you can charge your Nissan LEAF or BMW i3, but also other brands of EVs. The only requirement is that the car supports one of the two connections built into each charger (CHAdeMO or CCS). Nissan’s EZ-Charge cards also work with the new stations, providing even more ease and convenience. Nissan leads a growing number of automakers who recognize that the “electrification” of our vehicles is not just a trend, but an inevitability that requires a significant supporting infrastructure. If you haven’t yet driven the award-winning 2016 Nissan LEAF, what are you waiting for? Stop by Cardinale Nissan in Seaside today, and join those in the know. When it comes to the best value in MPGe, we’ve got you covered.

Full-Size Titan Is Here

Cardinale Nissan 2_TitanXD

Nissan’s all-new, full-sized Titan XD is hitting dealerships as we speak. The pickup falls between the half-ton (1500) class trucks and the three-quarter-ton class (2500). The former can tow up to 8,500 pounds, while the latter tows up to 17,000 lbs. Nissan seeks to capture the “swing vote” – those in the middle, who are looking for the perfect “in-between” truck. The Nissan Titan XD uses a thick frame, 14” brakes, Bilstein shocks, and a transmission built for heavy loads. The gooseneck trailer hitch is affixed to the frame, in a nod to the fact that this truck is intended for hauling. It’s a heavy, stable truck that can tow over 12,000 lbs, but handles with more ease and flexibility than the stiff trucks that can tow a few thousand more. Contact Cardinale Nissan for more information on the 2016 Titan XD, and discover that it is possible to be tough and yet stylish at the same time.

LEAF Outsells Model S by 2 to 1

Cardinale Nissan 2_LeafvsTesla

Despite Tesla’s strong year-to-date sales, the Model S still hasn’t caught up to the Nissan LEAF. Sales of the LEAF are around 200,000 worldwide – twice as many as the Chevy Volt, and outpacing the 60,000 US buyers of Tesla’s flagship EV. The all-new LEAF will hit dealer showrooms very soon, and the Tesla Model X impacting Model S popularity, it’s not hard to understand that sales of the LEAF may very well eclipse that of Tesla’s Model S. Another factor contributing to stronger sales of the LEAF than the luxury Model S EV is the price tag. The Model S typically sells for more than $100,000, while the LEAF is far more accessible to the masses, at just a fraction of that cost. Stop by Cardinale Nissan in Seaside today, and test drive the 2016 LEAF. Be sure to ask about year-end specials, and get excited! The LEAF is one of the most acclaimed EVs in its class, at a price that is truly attainable.

Nissan Eyes Toyota’s Market Share

Cardinale Nissan 1_market share

Nissan’s sales growth through November of this year has out-paced Honda and Toyota, but this is not enough for CEO Carlos Ghosn. His goal is to “close the gap” with Toyota by 2020, replacing it as the world’s largest auto manufacturer. In doing so, he has announced that he seeks to capture 10% of the U.S. market – that’s an additional 1.5% over current market share for Nissan. Part of this goal entails a reorganization of the top executives at Nissan USA. We recently a handful of executives shuffled, and Ghosn plans to continue this effort, to give more foreign talent the opportunity to hold leadership positions at Nissan USA. All eyes will be on Nissan in the coming year, as they race toward closing that gap with Toyota. Not only will some creative stops be pulled out, in order to capture additional market share, but we also expect to see some very interesting developments to the vehicle lineup and roadmap. For more information on what’s coming, stop by Cardinale Nissan in Seaside today.

Nissan LEAF Gets “Vehicle 2 Grid” Tech

Cardinale Nissan 1_V2G

Get excited! Nissan has come up with a way to use the multi-kWh battery in its LEAF electric vehicle as a mobile power plant for homes, offices, or for returning energy to the grid. Similar to Tesla’s Powerwall, Nissan’s “Vehicle 2 Grid” (V2G) technology could save you money by powering your home during peak hours. At night, you could then charge the LEAF’s battery, leveraging the lower energy prices during off-peak timeframes. What’s more, by sending excess power back to the grid, you could even receive a discount on energy bills. Initially, V2G would ideally be complemented by a renewable energy source like solar. In a partnership with energy company ENEL, Nissan’s V2G charger runs around $900 – significantly less than Tesla’s Powerwall system, which will cost you a whopping $3,000. The V2G system launches in Denmark, followed by pilot programs in Germany, Netherlands and other northern European regions. To receive updates, or to test drive the LEAF, visit Cardinale Nissan in Seaside. During the month of December, we are selling every new car at invoice. That’s correct – not “$X over invoice”, but AT INVOICE, or in some cases, even less. Stop by today, and get excited! There has never been a better time to buy your new Nissan.

Forbes Hails the 2016 Nissan Altima as “Rising Tide in Shrinking Pool”

Cardinale Nissan 2_2016Altima

In a recent Forbes article, the 2016 Nissan Altima gets high praise. Though the midsize sedan segment is small and shrinking, Forbes notes that the 2016 Altima hopes “to give sedan (shoppers) a reason to become sedan owners.” With its updates to the exterior design, advancements in safety technology, improved driving experience and better fuel economy, the 2016 makes “a strong case against going SUV,” notes Forbes. The new Altima features a new design incorporating a more sleek, aerodynamic “energetic flow”. This includes a new hood, fenders, head and tail lights, and front and rear fascias. The highway fuel efficiency goes from good to great, jumping from 38 to 39 mpg. The 2016 Altima also receives significant tech upgrades with a focus on safety. Included standard are predictive forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert. Optional radar-based smart cruise control. Also available is a SIRI eyes-free control, through a button on the steering wheel. NissanConnect brings a host of services including emergency calling and remote door unlock. Also new is the SR trim, which brings heightened performance with the 2.5 or the 3.5-liter engine, paddle shifters and a more sporty suspension setup. Forbes praises the new Altima for feeling “more responsive to steering and throttle inputs”, even at the entry-level trim package. Also noted was the drastic reduction in road noise. “All these upgrades, plus higher quality interior materials and a cleaner control layout,” notes Forbes, place the 2016 Nissan Altima at the top of its class. Test drive one today at Cardinale Nissan in Seaside. Get excited about year-end incentives that help put you in a car you love.

“No Charge to Charge” Program Expands

Cardinale Nissan 1 charging station

Nissan’s free electric vehicle charging program, “No Charge to Charge”, expands to the Twin Cities. Previously, the markets covered included Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Salt Lake City and Austin. The program, which is limited to public (not home) charging, offers two free years of charging for anyone who buys a new Nissan LEAF. It works like this: buy a new LEAF, receive a card that grants access to multiple charging networks. It’s easy to get a 30-minute DC fast charge, or a one-hour Level 2 charge; enough time to go from 0-80%. The EZ-Charge cards are created by NRG eVgo. The card can be used at four charging station brands: ChargePoint, Blink Network/Car Charging Group, NRG eVgo, and AeroVironment. If that’s not reason to Get Excited, we don’t know what is! Stop by Cardinale Nissan today in Seaside, and get ready to turn over a new LEAF, with some great year-end lease options.
