2017 Nissan GT-R Begins Testing in California

The 2017 Nissan GT-R has been spotted doing testing in California. Though recognizable, the new model year receives some updates, including new taillights. GT-R program manager Hiroshi Tamura has said that he wants to improve upon the handling, ride quality and noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels. While we don’t have many details (since the car was heavily camouflaged), this suggests that the new GT-R could be equipped with a retuned suspension, updated steering system and more sound deadening materials. We do, however, know that Tamura has made it clear that he plans to move the GT-R upmarket, as a “not just fancy, but real premium” offering. The car will retain the 3.8-liter biturbo V6 engine with 545 horsepower in the standard model and 600 hp in the NISMO edition. That said, we do not yet know if there will be any performance tweaks to the engine. Stay updated on the release details, or test drive the 2016 GT-R today at Cardinale Nissan in Seaside.
