Stay Safe In Spring Storms With These Easy-To-Follow Tips

One of the most hazardous parts of spring time for drivers is the sharp increase in heavy rain storms. Slippery roads and dangerous conditions mean that drivers must be more careful while trying to make their way home. During storms, properly working tires, windshield wipers and windshield are a must have, as they ensure a high visibility and traction. You and your passengers are at greater risk if any of these are not working, so here are a few tips from #CardinaleNissan to keep you safe.

Windshield Wipers:

To have the best view of the road during the reduced visibility that a storm brings, your wipers must be properly working. Some signs of damaged wipers include reduced efficiency, leaving streaks or if they are too squeaky. If you notice these, come let our service department experts have a look. We can provide replacement wipers which are inexpensive and quick to install, so you will be back on the road in no time. If you want even more protection from the rain, a coat of water repellant will keep your view much clearer.

Tires:

The most dangerous time to be on the road is when the first rain hits the road, as the oils and dirt that have accumulated over time rise to the top. For your tires to correctly grip the road with the added surface liquids, the treads need to be deep enough to keep contact with the road as you are moving. Since treads naturally wear down with daily use, it is important to replace them when you are near the manufacturer’s suggested limit.

At Cardinale Nissan, we know your and your passenger’s safety is the number one priority when driving, so our Nissan car service technicians are committed to providing quality service. Come see why we are one of the top Monterey auto dealers by visiting us in store or online at www.cardinalenissan.com.

Nissan Takes To The Streets Of London For Autonomous Leaf Tests

Self-driving cars have been in the works for a couple years now in order to be ready for customers by 2020. This type of technology will make such a big impact on driving and must be carefully tested to ensure safety and reliability. Through years of hard work, Nissan is already in the testing phase for a self-driving Nissan Leaf, which was conducted in London. Be on the lookout for an autonomous Nissan Leaf at Cardinale Nissan in the coming future.

As one of the first commercially available electric cars, the Nissan Leaf has always been one of the most advanced cars on the market. Because of this, it’s no surprise that Nissan selected this affordable and agile car as its initial candidate for the transition to #self-driving. The on-board electronics that manage the output of power to the motor pairs perfectly with the autonomous system as it allows for quick braking and acceleration. The smaller size of the Leaf also lets the car change lanes, park and come to a stop much more efficiently than a larger model. The Leaf also makes use of Forward Emergency Braking and Blind Spot Monitoring to ensure the driver’s safety.

This initial test was also the public’s first chance at experiencing this new technology for themselves. Nissan gave several demonstrations that gave a few volunteers a more intricate look at the car and a short ride with a certified Nissan driver behind the wheel. Many new laser scanners, radars and high quality cameras have been added to ensure the self-driving system works efficiently and as expected.

Cardinale Nissan will soon feature this new Nissan Leaf, along with the autonomous Nissan Rogue Sport, which will arrive at Monterey auto dealers this year. Our sales team can work with you to provide exceptional financing options and quality Nissan car service from our experienced technicians, so call or visit us online at www.cardinalenissan.com.

Enjoy Some Of The Most Unique Parts Of Monterey County

Here at #CardinaleNissan in the beautiful city of Monterey, we are always on the hunt for any unique or off the beaten path places to explore. You can find great places to eat and nice beaches in most places around California, but there are many great locations that offer something new or exciting to see. Learning about historic locations or odd structures, all while exploring the incredibly scenery of the country, is a fun way for anyone to spend a day. Here are some of our favorite unique spots around the city:

Monterey’s Moon Tree:

There are plenty of gorgeous trees around Monterey, from the California sycamore to the quaking aspen. But none of those varieties are quite like the Moon Tree, which was grown from seeds that were exposed to cosmic radiation. Back in 1971, the astronauts on the Apollo 14 mission brought some seeds up with them to see if space rays had any effect on tree growth. Monterey is home to one of the few trees that were born from these seeds, and today they act as a memorial to the brave astronauts from the Apollo mission that have since passed away.

The Old Whaling Station:

Many years ago, before whaling was outlawed, fishermen made a living hunting whales for their valuable blubber and other parts. The commercial whaling industry was a big part of California’s economy until the end of the 20th century. Because of the rich history and integral part that whaling played, the Old Whaling Station is now a registered historic landmark and it was restored in 1980. It’s located by the coast off in Heritage Harbor, and offers a unique view of a different time and economic setting. Nowadays, you can take a tour through the facilities and its even a popular wedding location.

At our Monterey car dealership, you can expect a unique car buying experience that is completely tailored around you. Our sales team will work with you to find a Nissan that best fits your needs, and we also offer excellent Nissan car service. Call us today or visit us on the web at www.cardinalenissan.com.

The Common Causes Of An Illuminated Check Engine Light

Everyone dreads that time when the Check Engine light comes on and you wonder what is wrong with your car. Maybe the light is just malfunctioning, or perhaps there is a bigger problem that needs to be addressed. Fortunately, our #CardinaleNissan service department staff is trained to run an intricate analysis of your car in order discover the problem, which is generally one of these four:

Failing Thermostat

In order to burn fuel, the temperature of the engine needs to be precise, and the thermostat regulates the flow of coolant. To avoid this being the cause of your Check Engine light, sure to bring your car in for regular coolant changes at Cardinale Nissan.

Fuel Cap Problems

The Check Engine light may turn on if your fuel cap is either not fully tightened or broken. This part is the first thing you should check when the light comes on, as it can save you a trip to service center. If the cap does need to be replaced it will generally only cost around $20.

Failing Oxygen Sensor

One of the most severe problems that needs to be addressed as soon as possible is a failing oxygen sensor. It balances the fuel-to-air ratio that is put into the engine, and if malfunctioning it could be cutting your fuel efficiency by over 40%. It can also lead to more expensive problems like a broken catalytic converter.

Failing Catalytic Converter

The catalytic converter generally only fails when something else fails first, like a faulty spark plug or warped engine parts. A new converter can run upwards of $1,000, but fortunately the root problems are easy to avoid in the first place by getting regular inspections and Nissan car service from Cardinale Nissan.

If you ever have any questions about your Nissan’s service needs or its maintenance requirements, schedule an appointment with our experts. We have one of the highest customer satisfaction ratings among Monterey auto dealers, so call or give us a click at www.cardinalenissan.com.

Nissan Unveils The First Electric Sports Car Fit For The Track

It’s not often that you can find both smart and sporty in a car, especially if you are looking for something fuel efficient. Many of the hybrids or electric cars on the market right now don’t have the engine power needed to race down an open road, while sport cars generally feature a low fuel efficiency. Nissan has been hard at work unifying these two concepts and they recently unveiled a new prototype EV sports car, the Blade Glider, which you can find in the near future at Cardinale Nissan.

The first look at this new racer came in a viral video which featured famous actress Margot Robbie piloting the twists and turns of the Monaco streets. In the video, she shows off the car’s pinpoint maneuverability and speed by driving the car around an iconic part of the racing world: the Fairmont Hairpin. The car has a never before seen the powertrain electric engine which was built by UK-based Williams Advanced Engineering. In under five seconds this new masterpiece can easily accelerate the car to 60 miles per hour with a maximum speed of 115 mph. It is capable of this amazing feat thanks to two 130 kW electric motors for each wheel that utilizes the latest EV technology to the fullest.

Another significant feature that sets the #BladeGlider apart from the competition is its seat configuration, with one driver’s seat in the “nose” of the car and two in back. This creates a more immersive driving experience that is similar to a pilot in a cockpit. The Blade Glider has been in development for over 4 years, tracing its origins to a prototype made in early 2013. Using the latest electric motor innovations and this design, the Blade Glider will be the first car of its type.

At Cardinale Nissan, you can find the best deals on all new and certified pre-owned Nissan models—and one day you’ll find the Blade Glider when it hits Monterey car dealerships. We also offer top of the line Nissan car service, so call or book an appointment online at www.cardinalenissan.com.

Explore The Beauty Of Nature Around Monterey

While National Parks month may not be till July, that doesn’t mean our hardworking staff at Cardinale Nissan can’t enjoy the beautiful areas around Monterey county. We love spending time in the great outdoors, whether it be hiking in the hills or spelunking deep into an enchanting cave. Two of our favorite locations to visit are Pinnacles National Park and Fort Ord Dunes State Park. Both of these are a great way to spend a day, either by yourself or with friends and family. Here are a couple highlights of these destinations:

Pinnacles National Park

This gorgeous landscape was formed many years ago after volcanoes erupted and flowed across North America, creating places full of caves and rock spires.  This area is one of the most unique places to visit in the state, with plenty of great trails and locations to hike through oak woodlands and canyon bottoms. Along the way you are sure to find wildlife amongst the trees and rocks, including peregrine falcons, golden eagles and the majestic California condor. Whether you are simply looking for a nice spot for a family picnic or a serious and strenuous hike, Pinnacles has it all.

Fort Ord Dunes State Park

For more coastal fun be sure to check out this exciting park by the sea. There are trails that bring you past over 20 miles of beaches, where the waves crest and you can smell the seafoam. #FortOrdDunesStatePark features five main types of sand dunes based on their age, from older stabilized dunes to unstabilized and active dunes. Along the rocky coastline you are sure to find one of the cutest sea mammals lying in the sun: the sea otter. Nearby you can also visit the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary for a closer look at a myriad of marine species.

You can also find a myriad of great deals on brand new or pre-owned Nissans at the one and only Monterey car dealership, Cardinale Nissan. From our exceptional Nissan car service to our high customer satisfaction rating, www.cardinalenissan.com is the place to go for all your Nissan needs.
