Nissan Hints At New Electric Car Model

Nissan leaf 3

With technology advancing rapidly, car makers are scrambling to adapt to the coming changes. Self-driving and electric cars are the way of the future according to experts, and a number of CEOs have already revealed new research investments and partnerships. Nissan is one of these companies, but fortunately they have been involved in electric car development since early 2010. Nissan recently hinted at the production of a new electric car to pair with the already successful Leaf.

Back in 2010, the thought of an electric car seemed foreign to most people. The limited battery life and weak engine seemed like too much of a trade off from a gas powered car. Early adopters however saw the green potential in an energy efficient and zero-emission machine. Throughout the years the Leaf has evolved, and now sports a battery that can support distances of over 100 miles. Additionally, the engine is much more responsive and the car feels fun to drive. The new #2017Leaf even has new fast-charging capabilities to get you charged back up in a flash.

The rumored new electric car from Nissan will look to fill a void in the current market: family seating. Right now most electric vehicles can only carry around four people, and the cargo space simply isn’t big enough for all the luggage. The next car will likely be a hatchback for the improved trunk capacity, an SUV for a more comfortable seating arrangement and more storage space or a crossover, which would have the passenger space of an SUV but be lighter and more compact.

The New Leaf Adds More Efficiency And Charging Speed

Nissan leaf 3

With Chevy having unveiled the specs for their new Bolt and Tesla and continuing to pump out improvements, many have been speculating when Nissan would announce the changes to their electric car, the Leaf. Well, wonder no further. With the 2017 update, Nissan has broadened the mileage range and updated the charging speed with a new 30-kWh battery pack.

The #NissanLeaf was the first economic electric car available, and it has continued to evolve in efficiency, speed and reliability over its iterations. For 2017, the previous 24-kWh battery pack was expanded to a 30-kWh battery which enhances the range from around 85 miles to a powerful 107 miles. This is easily enough for most Americans’ daily needs, which is typically around 30 miles. Even when bringing around the kids to and from school and heading to work, the total distance is well within the driving range of the Leaf. And in order to help those who want to take longer road trips or vacation drives, Nissan has some exciting developments.

The latest Leaf has DC fast charging technology standard across the whole lineup, which can energize you up quickly while on the road. Additionally, many companies, including Nissan, have invested heavily into constructing new fast charging stations in cities all across the country. This way, powering back up is fast, easy and cheap, especially with Nissan’s new program which will give new Leaf owners free charging at these locations for two years. Say hello to saving money on gas and electricity!

To take part of the quickly growing electric car craze, come down to Cardinale Nissan for an exciting test drive. You can also find us online at www.cardinalenissan.com.

Electric Nissans Help To Keep An Island’s Air Free From Pollution

Nissan Leaf 4

People are always finding inventive and exciting ways to make our planet a little cleaner. Whether it’s using LED light bulbs or using less water, every little bit makes a difference. Recently, the Channel Island Jersey post office in the United Kingdom has been playing their part by switching to an all-electric fleet of Nissan eNV200 vans, and are reducing carbon emissions by almost 35 tonnes per year.

Channel Island is a small but thriving group of islands off the southern coast of the UK, of which the island of Jersey is the largest. This localized area is the ideal place for any electric car to make an impactful difference. Electric cars operate best over many shorter drives rather than a single long distance, and with the Nissan Leaf leading the industry in mileage per charge, this fleet of vans based on the Leaf’s design are perfect for replacing the average diesel post-office truck. The 100-mile range is easily enough to power these cars through a day of delivering mail on such an island.

These vans have other upsides along with emitting no carbon. Electric vans are much more economical than diesel vans, featuring a great warranty and as well as more robust engine. Electric engines are more reliable and break less than regular engines, meaning less maintenance that could disrupt important mail service to businesses and people. The Director of Operations of the post office Andy Jehan summarized, “the vans are…ideal for the short distance, stop/start driving that the job involves.”

To test drive the Nissan Leaf, the inspiration and technological foundation for the eNV200 vans, visit our great sales team at Cardinale Nissan, or check out our full inventory online.

Nissan Gives Free Charging To Leaf Owner In New Program

Nissan leaf 3

Being more environmentally conscious is a great goal, and it’s easy to get involved and help. Simple tasks such as recycling to putting in more energy efficient lightbulbs can help you save the planet, as well as help out your wallet. At the frontline of environmentally friendly market are electric cars, which don’t require any gasoline; just charge the battery and drive. Nissan has been a forerunner in this field with the Leaf, which has better driving range than any other electric car on the market. Nissan is always looking to help incentivize more drivers to make the switch, and their No Charge to Charge program has brought free and fast charging stations all across America.

The most common concern for many prospective electric car owners is the need to charge the battery pack after driving a certain mileage. Companies are helping to fix this problem is by extending the mile range of the cars, which has been continually growing as the technology is better implemented.  But Nissan is going above and beyond by providing efficient charging stations for its electric car owners.

The charging station can be found almost anywhere, with Nissan estimating one exists within 10 miles of 90 percent of owners. The Leaf can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in under 30 minutes thanks to these the high efficiency outlets, making sure drivers can quickly power up while at the store or at work. All new Leaf owners will receive an EZ-Charge Full Access Card which allows for an unlimited number of charges for the first two years, and the stations are easily searchable through an app on your phone. Nissan estimates the card will save drivers around $1,000, as well as make our planet greener. If saving money on gas and reducing emissions sounds appealing to you, come see us at Cardinale Nissan to experience the Nissan Leaf.

Nissan Works With Uber To Lower Emissions Using The Nissan Leaf

Nissan Electric

Thanks to new app-based driving services available at the push of a button, getting from point A to point B is easier than ever. The arrival of services like Uber and Lyft mean you can set up a pickup and drop off to and from almost anywhere. It also helps everyday drivers use their own cars to make a profit while also minimizing travel costs for passengers. To make these services even better, Uber recently joined with Nissan to provide a more environmentally friendly trip through the use of the Nissan Leaf.

Electric cars are a great way to lower your carbon footprint and save on gas, making them the perfect vehicle for any driving servicer. The new program will allow top Uber drivers to lease a Nissan Leaf at the minimal rates instead of driving their own car. The first test of this program will take place in the UK, where emission rates are becoming stricter to help solve pollution problems in various cities. Over a three-month period, The Energy Savings Trust will track many of these Nissan Leafs for driving patterns, user experience and the cost effectiveness of an electric car. UK Uber manager Jo Bertram commented, “People already associate Uber with hybrid cars, but we want to go a big step further with fully electric cars.”

It’s not a mystery why the Nissan Leaf is the perfectly suited vehicle for this project; the car was a trailblazer in affordable and efficient electric car manufacturing. The Nissan Leaf was one of the first electric cars available, and since its launch in 2011 Nissan has been steadily improving the Leaf with newer technology. Most importantly, the Leaf has the highest range of any electric car for the 2016 model year, which will help drivers manage any long distance destinations for Uber. To see how innovative new technology has made the Nissan Leaf the best electric car, come test drive one for yourself at Cardinale Nissan. We want to be your dealership!

Nissan’s Zero-Emission Leadership Concept

Zero Emission

In its endeavor of continuing with zero emission vehicles, Nissan has expanded its horizon to its electric vehicles. The Nissan LEAF has already been a big hit in the electric car segment with its powerful acceleration, zero tailpipe emissions, quietness, and classic safety features.

CO2 levels

The IPCC has recommended that the CO2 levels in the atmosphere should be below 450 ppm so that the atmospheric temperature is 2 ̊C. Therefore, Nissan has estimated that the CO2 emissions from vehicles need to go below 90%. In order to achieve the goal, all of Nissan’s electric vehicles have been given a lithium-ion battery along with an electric motor. These together do not produce CO2 or any kind of exhaust fumes.

EV Performance

Despite not being powered by fuel, the EV’s performance is exceptionally good and smooth. The weight of the car is distributed evenly, making the car extremely stable. The revised EV model comes with a lighter body, integrated functions, and a streamlined battery. There are some advanced IT systems also available in the vehicles, which have given some operating freedom to the driver. Drivers can now control certain features using their smartphones.

CO2 emission from EV

The CO2 emissions from the EV are extremely low throughout its lifespan as opposed to the vehicles that run on gas. The batteries used in EV are very powerful and help in rolling out renewable energy.  These have become the most obvious manufacturers that are determined to create a carbon-free environment.

To know more about Nissan’s zero emission concept, walk into Cardinale Nissan today.

Renault-Nissan Pursuing Self-Driving Cars, Slowly but Surely…

Cardinale Nissan 2_SelfDrivingCar1

Beginning later in 2016, Renault-Nissan will offer vehicles that are able to take control while a car is stuck in a single highway lane in stop-and-go traffic. By 2018, we will see the availability of multiple-lane highway support. And by 2020, the French-Japanese carmaker plans to introduce autonomous vehicles capable of navigating intersections and city driving. When you think about it, four years isn’t that far away. In that timeframe, the company says that it will launch more than 10 vehicles with some form of autonomous driving features. EVP of Engineering, Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi, said at a recent press event, “We will implement autonomous driving step by step.” He adds that the company is developing the necessary systems to monitor drivers and make sure that they are ready to take the wheel when necessary. For example, a wristband would monitor vital signs. CEO Carlos Ghosn said that “even a fully autonomous car still needs a driver with eyes on the road and hands on or near the wheel.” He hints at Tesla, saying that “not all electric vehicles …cost six figures,” and he commits that Nissan is focused on electric and self-driving cars for the mass market. “This is a global priority,” which is supported by the fact that the Nissan LEAF represents over 45 percent of EVs on the road. 2018 Nissan Frontier Debut?

Cardinale Nissan 1_2016FrontierRed

Though we’ve just only rung in 2016, photos of what could be the 2018 Nissan Frontier are already being spied online. The midsize truck, similar to the Navara, Nissan’s midsize in foreign markets, has been spotted in metro Detroit with taped badges, raising a lot of interesting curiosity. One such test truck was marked as a diesel, which prompts us to wonder if this is intended for the foreign markets, or if Nissan has new ideas for the U.S. midsize pickup market. Could this taped-up Navara really be the next-generation Frontier? It appears to have a larger body size than the NP300, and hints at a possible consolidation to market a single midsize truck globally. The 2016 Frontier King Cab is available in three editions: S, SV 4-cylinder, and SV V6. Get a quote for your trade-in, and swing by for a test drive of the current model year midsize pickup. Contact Cardinale Nissan in Seaside, and let the friendly team guide you through the exciting current financing offers.
