Nissan Plans to Partner with Mercedes-Benz to Build Pickup

Daimler CEO Zetsche smiles during the first press day ahead of the 85th International Motor Show in Geneva

Nissan recently revealed that it would expand its cooperation with partner Mercedes-Benz to build a new mid-sized pickup truck for the German automaker. This new pickup truck will target commercial and private clients in Europe, Latin America, Australia and South Africa, and will share some of the underpinnings with an-all Nissan NP300 truck. Daimler Chief Executive Dieter Zetsche said: “Entering the rapidly growing segment of midsize pickups is an important step in continuing our global growth path.” Mercedes-Benz said that the upcoming truck will be built by Nissan in Argentina and in the Nissan plant in Barcelona; the Barcelona plant will produce about 120,000 vehicles annually for the three partners, while the Cordoba plant will produce nearly 70,000 vehicles a year.
