Head To Cardinale Nissan For A Look At Nissan’s Hybrid And Electric Lineup

One of the biggest benefits of owning a hybrid or electric car from Cardinale Nissan is the incredible savings on gas. By using the electric motor at lower speeds such as in the city or in stop and go traffic, the car will consume less fuel because you don’t need to accelerate as often. Visit a Monterey car dealership such as Cardinale Nissan to learn about the fuel efficient Nissan Pathfinder, Rogue and Leaf and see why they are the future of driving.

Nissan Pathfinder

The largest hybrid model that Nissan offers is the Pathfinder, which offers all the premium features you expect of an SUV without the low fuel rating. Thanks to the hybrid engine, the Pathfinder earns 26 mpg combined and still sports three rows of seats and luxury accommodations.

Nissan Rogue

The recent success of the Nissan Rogue has been largely due to its optional hybrid engine and the flexibility it offers with seating. The car has an expansive storage area and rows of foldable seats that you can easily change depending on the number of passengers. The hybrid engine boosts the fuel economy by 6 mpg over the base model, making it perfect for family road trips and vacations.

Nissan Leaf

Electric cars such as the Nissan Leaf require no gas at all to run, only a quick and easy charge that can be done in as little as 30 minutes. The 2018 Leaf will have an effective range of over 200 miles, and with regenerative braking and Nissan’s charge stations across the country, there is no limit to where the Leaf can go.

Nissan Makes Big Strides All Around The World

nissan logo

Managing a worldwide market can be a tough challenge for any car manufacturer. There are many different taxes on imports and exports, along with a wide range of emission regulations. Over the past year, Nissan has found success in several countries, including the United States, the UK and Japan, which has made Nissan the fastest growing car brand in the world.

United States:

U.S. based production is looking to be on a major rise in 2017. Many companies like Kia and Toyota have declared multibillion dollar investments over the past month, and Nissan will follow suit in order to continue its success. With four factories in the U.S. that employee over 22,000 people, Nissan is already committed to local growth and creating new jobs. Along with employment opportunities, prices on popular models like the popular Nissan Altima or Nissan Rogue should lower.

United Kingdom:

It’s only 2017, but Nissan has already started testing its new driverless car system. Nissan is one of the only companies to have such a car ready for testing, and this will be the first driverless car tested in Europe. The tests will use a modified Nissan Leaf, fitted with advanced cameras and sensors in order to make better decisions.

Japan:

Nissan debuted several new prototypes and stylish models over at the Tokyo Auto Show. The redesigned NISMO GT-R was an expected attendee, but Nissan also brought along previously unseen NISMO versions of the Juke, Fairlady Z and the March. The #NISMO division produces the majority of Nissan’s performance cars, installing more horsepower, better handling and stylish features to already successful cars.

Thankfully, our wide selection of new and pre-owned cars at Cardinale Nissan means you don’t have to go all around the world to get the best of Nissan. At our Monterey car dealership, you can test drive any new or used model, so come check us out at www.cardinalenissan.com.

Nissan Delivers Powerful Keynote At International Auto Show

nissan logo

To discuss how the future of car design is shaping up, car companies gathered at the North American International Auto Show. CEOs and lead engineers presented keynote speeches to talk about their views, including Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn. Ghosn has always been a big voice for change in car design, and in his discussion he listed numerous areas that need to be addressed in the coming future. He put his biggest emphasis on four areas: autonomy, self-driving cars, applications and electric cars.

Autonomous/Self-Driving Cars: Both of these areas are similar, with #autonomous cars requiring minimal user input. These revolutionary cars are slated to arrive in 2020 for companies like Nissan, and Ghosn urged others to stick to that promise. Look for these cars to make a big impact.

Applications: All cars nowadays have some sort of smartphone integrations, and adding more apps to that is important. Voice activated commands and adding events to your calendar are just the tip of the research iceberg. Autonomous and self-driving cars will also become safer if they can connect to other cars and know their intended paths

.

Electric Cars: This type of car is actually becoming much more popular and affordable, but continuing to make these cars more accessible and easy is another hurdle to overcome. These cars do have several advantages including no emissions and a charging time of just over 30 min.

Nissan Explores A Potential Partnership With Mitsubishi

Cardinale Nissan 4 shutterstock_231630193

In case you haven’t been following Nissan in the news, the company has been looking to join forces with Mitsubishi Motors and reviving them from their current position. Mitsubishi was recently faced the consequences of inaccurately presorting fuel-economy figures, but Nissan firmly believes it can bring back the company from the hole it is currently in. This partnership would create shared research groups and development, as well as bringing back thousands of jobs. Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosen recently outlined why he believes that the partnership could be greatly beneficial for everyone.

Back in 1999, Nissan had been through some difficult times and was on the brink of bankruptcy, but a timely joining of forces with the company Renault turned that all around and turned it into the industry powerhouse it is today. A similar partnership with Mitsubishi Motors will have a number of economic and consumer benefits. The biggest factor behind this merger is that Mitsubishi’s strengths complement Nissan’s, and it will help the company grow in key areas like deeper localization, common vehicle platforms and technology sharing. This is especially important as more electric and self-driving cars hit the market.

Additionally, Nissan will be able to salvage many of the physical assets that Mitsubishi had to shut down, including production plants and dealerships. This will create thousands of jobs and bring some life back to the communities most affected by these closures. Perhaps most importantly, Ghosen commented, “We know what it’s like to face a crisis and emerge stronger,” and they can use that experience to hopefully achieve a similar result as the #Renault-Nissan Alliance.

A Long Term Road Test Review Of The Nissan Leaf

Nissan Leaf Review Long Term

The battery pack of Leaf constitute of air-cooled and stacked batteries made of lithium ion and manganese oxide, stacked and laminated.

The battery of Nissan Leaf like any other EV (electric vehicle) is its heaviest part. It is placed below the vehicle’s rear foot space and seats. The aim is to keep the vehicle’s center of gravity lease and to improve the structural rigidity in comparison to a regular 5-dor hatchback available in the market.

Even after ten years, Leaf’s battery pack is tipped to have 70 percent to 80 percent of the original capacity and that is not bad at all. However, the actual life span of the pack will be depending on the frequency of DC charging used, the environmental factors and the driving patterns.

Nissan has claimed that its Leaf for 2013 model year in the United States has a higher efficient heating system enabling the Leaf to increase its range to 40 km in chilling weather conditions. EPA has rated it as 121 km or 75 miles. This is an improvement from 117 km in its earlier models.

The ASG or the Automatic Science Group released the outcome of a study that they conducted in Feb 2014 for assessing the life-cycle of more than 1,300 vehicles spanning over 9 distinct categories available in U.S. According to this study by ASG, among the various sophisticated automotive technologies, the smallest environmental footprint lifecycle is delivered by the Nissan Leaf among all the models for 2014. The study took into consideration the market in North America with a minimum occupancy of 4 persons.

The Nissan Leaf Is Changing The Way That Vehicles Operate

Nissan Leaf Review Long Term

The Nissan Leaf is an out and out electric car and has the earned the distinction of not creating any greenhouse gas emissions or tailpipe pollution while it is operating. Moreover, it has reduced the owners’ reliance on petroleum or gas. Nissan Leaf has bagged several rewards and recognitions since its inception such as Car of the Year in Japan (2011-12), World Car of the Year (2011), Car of the Year in Europe (2011) and the vision for Green Car Vision (2010).

The first battery-operated electric vehicle was introduced by Nissan at the International Auto Show in Los Angeles on December 29, 1997. The vehicle was named Nissan Altra. Nisan produced the Altra EV from 1998 to 2002. But the company produced only 200 cars and was primarily used in the capacity of electric utilities.

The frontal style of Nissan Leaf is marked by a cutting V-shaped design. It is characterized by big and light-emitting headlights made of diode (LED). These headlights split to redirect the flow of air away from its mirrors on the door. Such a feature brings down the aerodynamic drag and noise.

Leaf’s low-beam LED headlights are known to eat up less electricity as compared to the halogen lamps. Nissan took efforts to ensure that its Leaf looks alluring to the potential and the mainstream drivers and so gave a hatchback and sedan like design to the Leaf. There are aerodynamic paneling at the car’s bottom so that the drag can be reduced and aerodynamics can be improved.

Leaving The Gas Station In The Rearview Mirror: The Electric Leaf

Nissan Leaf Review Long Term

Nissan Leaf appeared in the market for the first time in 2010. It was a marvel in itself since it was the first out and out electric car with a capacity of accommodating 5 people and also had the ability of carrying a reasonable cargo load too. In other words, it was a completely functioning car for regular use with great power accessories, capability for sophisticated electronic communications and sound system.

Nissan Leaf is a 5-door, hatchback and compact electric car that has been launched by Nissan. In December 2010, the car was introduced in the United States of America and Japan. In the following year, it was also made available in Canada and several European nations

The hatchback that was launched by Nissan in 2011 was powered by electric and was christened as Leaf. The 1st generation of Nissan Leaf was available only in form of hatchbacks and had rather conventional styling. An electric motor was placed under the vehicle’s hood and produced a horsepower of 107 and a torque of 207 lb-ft.

In 2013, within a gap of 3 years, the new model still had a similar appearance like the first model. However many upgrades have now been included in its SL and SV trim levels. A key feature in the 2013 model is an onboard charger that can charge the vehicle with higher speed and can equip the Leaf to start being on the move just after 4 hours of charging.

Nissan Leaf Will Work With the Cloud

2016-nissan-leaf-rear-profile-black-large

From the very beginning, Nissan’s fully electric car, the Leaf, was designed with the capability to connect to the cloud. Nissan’s CIO Celso Guiotoko has said that the cloud will provide flexibility to provision additional capacity when needed and the ability to take advantage of new technologies as they develop. The public cloud platform which Nissan is using is Microsoft Azure.

As you might know, fully electric cars have a smaller range than traditional gasoline or diesel powered vehicles. Additionally, charging stations for such cars are also less abundant than traditional fuel stations. Worries can arise regarding how much energy the car is using, or how long it has been since the last charge, or how much charge it has left. In such situations, having your car connected to the cloud would provide a huge advantage. This is delivered through an app that relies on a cloud-based service that will collect and share data and instructions between the Leaf and the app.

The LEAF’s online service is known as NissanConnect EV. It will allow users to:

  • Check current charge level,
  • Start charging,
  • Check when charging will complete,,
  • Trigger the climate control remotely,
  • Check estimated driving range between charges,
  • Record and store basic driving history, including times and distance travelled.

The cloud service acts as the broker between the car and the app. You won’t be able to connect the app to the car directly via the internet. This means that both the app and the car don’t have to be online at the same time in order for the app’s features to work.

The Nissan Leaf is one of the most innovative and incredible vehicles to ever exist. To see the Leaf for yourself, we recommend coming into Cardinale Nissan to explore how this vehicle has environmental and driving benefits built right inside.
