Nissan Announces Plans For New Ride-Sharing And Taxi Service

Along with making driving easier, autonomous car systems play a major part in reimagining the taxi and ride-sharing industry in Monterey. Many services such as Uber and Lyft are only just a tap on a smartphone away, but both depend on people to do the driving. A self-driving taxi would never need to take breaks and ultimately would be more efficient and cheaper. Nissan recently announced the autonomous Nissan Leaf, which will soon be available at Cardinale Nissan in Seaside, as well as a new venture into the ride-sharing industry using their latest self-driving cars.

Implementation

The biggest question when considering any new proposal is how it will be implemented. A standard taxi or pick up service will almost certainly be present in order to transport people around the city. Nissan is also considering a bus-like system, which would include a whole fleet of autonomous cars moving along a designated route and picking up passengers at specific stops. This would allow people who don’t have the money for or simply don’t travel enough to warrant a car to have another source of reliable transportation.

Affordability

Vehicles from Cardinale Nissan such as a used Nissan Sentra are already affordable and easy to finance, but access to more transportation methods is always beneficial. Because autonomous cars need no driver and could easily pick up many passengers, Nissan’s taxi service will do more for less. And thanks to the electric motors in autonomous cars, they won’t need to stop for gas and will emit no pollutants.

You can test drive the self-driving experience soon at a Monterey car dealership like #CardinaleNissan in Seaside with the release of the 2018 Nissan Leaf. To explore its many features, including an electric engine with a range of over 200 miles, visit www.cardinalenissan.com.
