The winner of the 1990 Le Mans 24 Hours, Mark Blundell, recently reunited with his Nissan R90CK at Circuit de la Sarthe at the ACO President’s dinner held on the circuit just before the start finish line. Twenty-five years ago, Mark Blundell sat behind the wheel of the famous R90CK and Nissan was able to score the pole. Since then cars have changed tremendously. In 1990 Nissan made efforts to improve the reliability of the R89C, which had proven its speed during the previous season, by modifying the chassis and installing the VRH35 model VRH35V engine. The 1990 car measured 4,800mm in length, was 1,990 mm wide and had a height of 1,100 mm – the car weighed a total of 900kg. The 1990 vehicle’s configurations are much different than the 2015 vehicle’s configurations which have a total weight of 880kg.
