Looking Up The Road: What’s Next For The Armada

NIssan Armada 2

“The 2017 Nissan Armada will own the road.”

We’ve already been gushing about the Armada, and how it’s having quite a moment. The Nissan Armada is enjoying a climate where fuel prices are low, consumer confidence is on the rise, and everyone is trading up to a truck, SUV, crossover and the like. The circumstances are perfect, and we think the 2017 Nissan Armada is in prime position to have even greater success. Let’s go over a few specifics.

The 2017 model has a new powertrain with a standard 5.6 liter V8 engine with 390hp, compared to 317hp in the previous model. And with 394 lb-ft of torque, it adds up to a legitimately rugged vehicle.

The seven speed automatic transmission is a wider gear range than in the previous model, which was a five speed. The fuel economy is better, thanks to improvements in the ATF warmer and shift change response. The two-wheel drive models get 14 mpg for city driving, and 19 mpg on the highway. The four-wheel drive models are 13 mpg and 18 mpg respectively.

The Armada’s towing capacity is best-in-class, at 8,500 pounds for both two-wheel and four-wheel.

Additional notable features include:

  • An improved around-view monitor with moving object detection, providing 360-degree views and a Blind Spot Intervention system.
  • Front and rear sonar with sensors that will warn you with a sound when you get too close to an object.
  • A Predictive Forward Collision Warning System that senses the speed and distance of vehicles ahead.

On top of all of that, it’s roomy, comfortable, quiet and has an MSRP that starts at only $44,000 (compared to $60,000-$90,000 for comparable full-size SUVs)
