Nissan’s all-new, full-sized Titan XD is hitting dealerships as we speak. The pickup falls between the half-ton (1500) class trucks and the three-quarter-ton class (2500). The former can tow up to 8,500 pounds, while the latter tows up to 17,000 lbs. Nissan seeks to capture the “swing vote” – those in the middle, who are looking for the perfect “in-between” truck. The Nissan Titan XD uses a thick frame, 14” brakes, Bilstein shocks, and a transmission built for heavy loads. The gooseneck trailer hitch is affixed to the frame, in a nod to the fact that this truck is intended for hauling. It’s a heavy, stable truck that can tow over 12,000 lbs, but handles with more ease and flexibility than the stiff trucks that can tow a few thousand more.
