Nissan Crossover Sales Increase in January

The Japanese automaker recently posted a 1.6% U.S. sales increase in January, compared to a year earlier – customers continued to flock from cars into crossovers, sport utility vehicles and trucks this past month. In fact, the Nissan brand, recorded a 2.9% increase to 97,220 units. Sales of Nissan’s crossover, pickups and sport utility sales have grown 18% in January. It appears that there is a shopping trend, where shoppers are ditching small cars as low gasoline prices make bigger cars more affordable to operate.

Nissan Launches 2016 Motorsport Season in Australia

Nissan recently unveiled its 2016 Australian motorsport activities in Australia this month. The 2016 Michael Caruso’s #23 NISMO Nissan Altima V8 Supercar was revealed, sporting a new variation of the global GT3 colors that the Altima carried in 2015. Additionally, the #1 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 aims to take home first place in the back-to-back Bathurst 12 hour races. “Today is a display of how heavily committed Nissan is to Australian motorsport,” said Nissan Motor Co. Australia Managing Director and CEO Richard Emery. “Elements from all three pillars of our local motorsport activities – V8 Supercars, GT3 and the Bathurst 12 Hour, and the Nissan PlayStation GT Academy program – were all at Phillip Island. All is now set for a huge 2016 season, beginning with the Bathurst 12 Hour next month where the Nissan GT-R will strive to win back-to back victories at Mount Panorama, just as it did in 1991 and 1992.”
