Buyers looking for a small crossover SUV that has lots of cabin space, comfortable seating and plenty of utility should consider the 2020 Nissan Rogue when they visit the Salinas area Nissan dealerships. The Rogue has lots of cargo space, too, with 40 cubic feet with the seats in use and 70 cubic feet when they’re folded down.
The Nissan Rogue also comes with driver-assistance technology features that buyers at the Nissan dealer near Salinas demand. Everyone who commutes to work will appreciate Nissan’s ProPilot Assist. This autonomous drive system lessens the hassle of stop-and-go driving by helping control steering, acceleration and braking during single-lane highway driving.
The 2020 Nissan Rogue seats five and comes in three trim levels, listed as S, SV and SL. Nissan also manufactures a smaller SUV called the Rogue Sport, a separate vehicle that’s not reviewed in this article.
Powering the Rogue is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 170 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque, connected to a CVT. All trims get standard front-wheel drive and available all-wheel drive. EPA-estimated fuel economy stands at 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway with front-wheel drive.* All-wheel-drive models get 1 mpg less city/highway.
The automotive media gives the 2020 Rogue excellent reviews. CarBuzz wrote: “If you're looking for a consumer-friendly, affordable crossover compact SUV, the Nissan Rogue should definitely be on your shortlist. ... [I]t has great cargo capacity and fuel economy, appealing to those seeking a high-utility daily driver. ... [S]eat comfort is among the best in the segment, and a long list of safety features come standard.”
The interior is quiet, and the stylish cabin is manufactured with high-quality materials. The Rogue provides plenty of room for passengers to stretch out and stay comfortable, even on longer trips. The S and SV trims get attractive cloth seats, while the range-topping SL comes with genuine leather upholstery. A six-way manually adjustable driver’s seat is standard, and an eight-way power-adjustable seat is optional.
The Rogue’s external styling is designed to turn heads without being flashy, blending classic lines with the rounded curves that are a signature of modern crossovers. There are nine exterior paint colors to choose from, including three premium hues: Monarch Orange Metallic, Pearl White TriCoat and Scarlet Ember Tintcoat. The SV and SL come with a motion-activated power tailgate and chrome door handles. A moonroof is optional.
Drivers will appreciate the Nissan Safety Shield 360 system, a safety suite of driver-assist features that’s standard on the SV and SL trims. Safety Shield 360 includes front and rear automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring and lane-departure warning. ProPilot Assist is optional on the SV. It includes lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control.
We particularly like the Nissan Safety Shield 360 system, a suite of safety and driver-assistance features that comes with lane-departure warning, front and rear automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring. As we mentioned earlier, ProPilot Assist is another great feature. It comes with lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control. Safety Shield 360 is standard on the SV and SL trims, while ProPilot Assist is available on the SV.
