The automotive media are enthusiastic when writing about the 2020 Nissan Altima. Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com wrote: “The 2020 Nissan Altima proves that the midsize-sedan class is not a 2-horse race between the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. Although the big two from Japan are fine rides, they don’t offer the option of all-wheel drive. The Altima can also provide particularly comfortable front seats … excellent safety features, and precise-yet-pliant dynamics."
The 2020 Nissan Altima seats five passengers and is offered in five trim levels: S, SR, SV, SL and Platinum. The Altima is powered by a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 188 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque, mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is optional. The SR and Platinum models have an available turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit that’s good for 248 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque, also connected to the CVT. This powerplant is front-wheel drive only.
Fuel economy is outstanding. The 2020 Altima gets up to an EPA-estimated 28 mpg city/39 mpg highway with the base engine and front-wheel drive.* The SR and Platinum trims get slightly less, due to their larger 19-inch wheels.
The 2020 Nissan Altima comes with a long list of standard features, including an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, keyless entry with push-button and remote engine start, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a forward-collision-warning system with automatic emergency braking, and a hands-free text-messaging assistant. Also standard is Rear Door Alert, a safety feature that will alert the driver if a child or pet is left in the backseat.
