The 2019 Nissan Versa is a subcompact sedan that’s perfect for buyers looking for a good, reliable car that comes with a price tag that won’t break the bank. It’s a great car for students and buyers on a budget. Buyers appreciate the Versa’s great ride and ample passenger and cargo space. The Salinas Nissan dealership pointed out the Versa gets outstanding fuel economy, so in addition to saving money at the dealer, you’ll also save money at the gas pump. All in all, the Versa delivers a lot of value for the money. Anyone looking for a solid daily driver that’s economically priced should place the 2019 Versa at the top of their shopping list.
The 2019 Nissan Versa seats five and is offered in S, S Plus and SV trim levels. Nissan also produces a hatchback named the Versa Note. While the Versa Note also carries the Versa name, it’s actually a separate vehicle, which we won’t cover in this review. The base Versa S trim is great for anyone searching for a fantastic ride without all the bells and whistles. If you’re looking to add features, you’ll want to choose Versa S Plus or SV trim.
Autotrader wrote: "Nissan understands that the primary buyer for this car is likely to be a first-time buyer, so it wants to impress upon them the Versa's value and economy, as well as its very reasonable sticker price. Those willing to spend a bit more can have a nicely equipped small sedan, while those willing to part with a few thousand dollars can have such great features as navigation, a rearview monitor and mobile-app capability.”
The 2019 Nissan Versa is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 109 horsepower and 107 lb.-ft. of torque. On the base S, this engine is connected to a five-speed manual transmission, while the other trims get a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Front-wheel drive is standard across the Versa lineup. The 2019 Nissan Versa delivers fuel economy estimated by the EPA at 27 mpg city/36 mpg highway with the five-speed manual transmission, and 31 mpg city/39 mpg highway with the CVT.*
The Versa S trim comes with 15-inch steel wheels, a rearview camera, power mirrors, a 7-inch touchscreen display, a four-speaker audio system with an auxiliary jack and Bluetooth. Step up to the S Plus and you’ll get amenities like cruise control and a rear spoiler. The upper SV trim comes with a height-adjustable driver seat, power windows and locks, upgraded cloth upholstery, a 60/40-split folding rear seat, keyless entry and a USB port. The SV trim is eligible for the SV Special Edition option package, which adds 15-inch alloy wheels, push-button start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, foglights, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Nissan's Easy-Fill Tire Alert and a vehicle immobilizer.
Versa owners describe the ride as being comfortable and quiet. The outstanding suspension system keeps things smooth, even on bumpy roads and uneven driving surfaces. Versa drivers like the crisp steering, and the small turning circle makes the vehicle easy to maneuver in and out of tight spaces. Backseat passengers will stay comfortable, thanks to the ample legroom that’s more than many competing vehicles in the Versa’s class. Tall passengers will enjoy the great amount of headroom afforded by the 2019 Nissan Versa.
